Randy Canney, another solid master and frequent Colorado State champion, went 5-0 and won the tournament. However, the last time Hans visited Colorado for the Monument Open in August, 2009, he defeated Canney in another beautiful, complex game. In the final round in Monument, Hans defeated a 2100 player to win the tournament. These are big victories in Colorado for a traveling chess warrior from Utah!
