The 2010 Utah Blitz Championship will be held on July 31st at SLCC, Redwood Campus. Will you be there? Chess in Utah is looking for players to report on this tournament. Tournament Details
When: Saturday, July 31st, 2010
Where: Salt Lake Community College, Basement of Barkosian Library, Taylorsville Redwood Campus (4600 S Redwood Road - Salt Lake City - 84130)
Entry fee: $20 on site, $15 if info is received by Thursday, July 29th
Registration: 12:00 - 12:45 pm. Pre-register by emailing your name and USCF ID to Morry Holland: mochess@comcast.net. $15 can then be paid during registration. Otherwise, you can can register on-site for $20.
Format: 7-round double-swiss (players play each opponent twice, once with each color) open tournament. No eliminations. Time control is G/5 with no delay.
Clocks: Chess clocks are necessary for blitz chess. If neither player has a clock and no clock is available to use, then both players must forfeit the round.
Byes: No half-point byes will be available.
Round times: Round 1 begins at 1:00 pm. Rounds 2 though 7 ASAP. Late arrivals may forfeit round 1 and may be subject to deletion from the tournament. No round shall begin after 4:30 pm. (If the tournament is still in progress at 4:30 pm, the tournament will be declared complete after the round in progress is over. This is because the library closes at 5.)
Awards: Trophies for 1st place and 2nd place overall. 85% of registration fees will be returned in cash prize awards, as follows: 30% for 1st place, 15% for 2nd place, 10% for U1800, 9% for U1600, 8% for U1400, 7% for U1200, and 6% for Unrated.
Rules: Regular USCF rules will be used.
