My Experience at the 2011 North American Open

All Girls Chess Championship 2011, in Photos

Utah Closed Championship 2010
12.17.10 - For the first time in noted history, the UCA changed the format of the Utah Championship, offering the title via a "closed" tournament and allowing the Utah Open to be one of a handful of qualifying events. 10.26.10 - Kayden Troff of West Jordan, Utah, is the official US representative in the 12-and-under category, along with 149 other top players from around the world. After seven rounds he is in clear first place with a score of 6.5. Damian Nash reports.

Utah Open Report from the TD
10.23.10 - To celebrate National Chess Day, the Utah Chess Association sponsored the annual Utah Open tournament. It was the strongest field in Utah since the end of the era of GM Igor Ivanov. Two masters and two 2100 players topped the list. When top-rated Harold Stevens lost to his chess nemesis, Frank Flynn, it opened the field. Twelve-year-old Kayden Troff finished first with a perfect 4-0 score plus one bye. Read more... |

G/40 Championship a Huge Hit!
08.17.10 - The Utah G/40 Championship on August 14 turned out to be a striking success, with 27 players participating in the simul against IM Jacek Stopa and 42 participating in the four-round tournament. The simul lasted approximately two and a half hours, with Stopa winning 24 and drawing 3. Read one TD's recap of the tournament and other days' events.
